The singing stylings of small-town beer deliveryman Deke Rivers (Elvis Presley) get noticed by promoter Glenda Markel (Lizabeth Scott), who sees the young talent as a means of jump-starting the career of her ex-husband, fading country bandleader Tex Warner (Wendell Corey).
