The Baroque concerto grosso, invented in Italy by Stradella and Corelli, quickly became popular all over Europe. But Handel's creative innovations in the style are outstanding for their richness of style and expressive power, and ultimately surpass the Italian model. This reissue featuring Les Arts Florissants and William Christie was released for the first time in 1995.
